Support Aylesbury Grammar School

Ways to Donate

The Aylesburian Annual Fund

The Aylesburian Annual Fund is dedicated to supporting urgent projects at Aylesbury Grammar School. For the past two years the focus has been on the very much needed refurbishment of our Student Support area, but we are delighted to share that, over the summer, we have been repurposing the south side of the ground floor of the Towe Block into a new, fit for purpose, specially designed Student Support facility. It is almost double the size of our previous area and will be able to support more students, more of the time, providing valuable space in the centre of the School which will be a huge benefit for our students and the team who support them.

Going forward, the focus of The Aylesburian Annual Fund will go to the conversion of the old caretaker's bungalow into a dedicated PE classroom. This new classroom will deliver both A Level and GCSE PE and also provide the PE staff with offices. Whilst we greatly appreciate one off donations, our focus is on regular monthly giving as this better enables us to plan and allocate funds to the most urgent projects within the school.

Should you be inspired to give in this way, please click here to donate.

Donations to our School are essential. They enable us to meet critical needs to enrich the learning and teaching at AGS. Giving to AGS impacts our whole community.

The Aylesburian Annual Fund

Aylesbury Grammar School has a long history of our community generously supporting our passion to provide the best facilities possible. Your support, however large or small, will help us to complete the refurbishments via our Aylesburian Annual Fund.

Inscribe a plaque

By making a £250 donation for your Inscribed Plaque, it is a chance to come together with the rest of the Aylesburian community, leave a lasting legacy and help to continue to make Aylesbury Grammar School the choice for local families.

This year our focus for fundraising is on our extremely well used Student Support provision. We need to relocate and extend the space to another part of the School, freeing up much needed space in the Sixth Form Centre.

A gift in your Will

Whatever their size, legacy gifts support the aspirations of future generations of students here at AGS. We are truly grateful to all those who plan to remember their School in this special way.

Many of you will have very fond memories of your time at AGS and it might be only now that you have really begun to appreciate how important AGS has been to you, whether in terms of friendships formed, the education provided or the various arts, sporting, or musical, opportunities that you enjoyed.

We hope it is reassuring to witness that the School continues to provide an ‘Outstanding’ all round education that is focussed on nurturing the character of our students, fulfilling every student’s potential, and providing a breadth of opportunity for all. This is not only evidenced by the continuous and conspicuous success of former students in business, the professions, the media, academia, public service, the arts, and the world of sport, but also through excellent academic results, a thriving and happy school community and the lifelong friendships that have come about from time spent at School.

Our School’s continuing success will depend on maintaining this legacy which itself is dependent upon the excellence of staff, strong and effective leadership, and facilities that are fit for purpose in the 21st century. It is also dependent upon the School having the funding to continue and build on this legacy long into the future. As you will be aware, a successful school such as AGS, is not able to rely on state funding to do this and has to constantly look for alternative funding sources. It continues to be a challenging task.

In light of this, after protecting the interests of family and friends, a number of Old Aylesburians and friends of the School have chosen to remember AGS with a gift in their will. Not only does this reflect their support for the School in a unique way which will go on to benefit the future generations of students and sustain the reputation of AGS, but it is also a way of contributing without having any impact upon a donor’s current finances.

Donors also have the added benefit of being assured that any such gift will be managed and applied carefully and prudently by the School’s charitable Foundation. The Foundation (which is regulated by the Charities Commission) is the custodian of most of the School’s third party funding (a role which it is supported by blue chip fund management institutions).

Deciding the destination of your estate (and in many cases the fruits of your lifelong labour) is of course a very personal, private and sensitive matter. If though, you would like to discuss legacy giving, please contact Alison Cox, Development Director on 01296 480276 Email: acox@ags.bucks.sch.uk

Some well-known names in Aylesbury Grammar School’s history, such as Professor William R. Mead, have left a legacy to benefit Aylesbury Grammar School. The Professor William Library was created using a Legacy left by the Professor. It benefits every single student now and in the future.
