The primary function of the Law Society is to regulate the legal profession and ensure that solicitors adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and professional competence. We set standards for solicitors through its rules and guidance, which cover areas such as client care, financial management, and conflict of interest. We also provide training and support for solicitors, helping them to maintain their skills and knowledge and keep up with changes in the law.

In addition, we also act as a voice for solicitors. It lobbies on behalf of the legal profession on issues such as access to justice, legal aid, and changes to the law. We work to promote diversity and inclusivity within the legal profession and support initiatives that aim to increase access to justice for all.
