Aylesbury Grammar School needs your help

It might surprise you to learn we are one of the lowest funded Schools in the country. As an Academy our annual operating costs are funded through central government. In recent years, our annual allocation per student has been decreasing in real terms. Funding just about covers our basic operating costs through our efficient financial management but there are no funds for the refurbishment of existing or the building of new facilities.

This means if we want to invest in our buildings and technology, or to continue to enrich the curriculum, we have to look for additional outside sources to help, either through grants or our community for regular or one-off gifts.

Fundraising enables us to make improvements to our School, and provide opportunities for our students, that would not be possible otherwise.

Past donations to the School have enabled us to refurbish our Science Centre, our Sixth Form Centre and our Library, in addition to smaller scale refurbishment and development projects including the Foundation Hall, the Fitness Suite and IT Rooms.  Last year we refurbished the entire Maths department with money raised from our Aylesburian Annual Fund and our students benefit every day. This year we turn our attention to the Art/DT and Engineering Building which is in dire need of refurbishment to bring it up to date and in line with the new curriculum.

Please support us if you can by setting up a regular donation to the School. Every student will benefit from your support and, any donation, at any value, is very much appreciated.

Ways to donate

The Aylesburian Annual Fund

Aylesbury Grammar School needs your help. And when we say “your help”, we mean, if possible, we would like our community to give a small amount each month to enable us to improve facilities we cannot do with our current funding.

The Aylesburian Annual Fund offers an opportunity for every parent, old boy, member of staff, governor and friend to support both current and future generations of students at AGS. Through regular giving you can help to realise projects that urgently need our attention and which will benefit every student at AGS.

This year our Aylesburian Annual Fund is aiming to fund the refurbishment of Art, DT and Engineering. This area of the School is in dire need of updating and is no longer fit for teaching and learning the modern curriculum. The total cost is £450,000 and we are delighted to report we already have £300,000 from a generous donation from the John Mason Raven Trust.

We now need to raise £150,000 in gifts and pledges this academic year to complete the refurbishment summer 2020.

Any contribution, at any level, will help us If you can make a regular contribution, however small, then please set up a regular donation on the next tab. Thank you so much for any support you can give.

Thank you.

Inscribe a Plaque

At AGS we aim to inspire and support our students to enable them to flourish throughout their lives – Floreat Ailesburia. By making a £250 donation for your Inscribed Plaque, it is a chance to come together with the rest of the Aylesburian community, leave a lasting legacy and help to continue to make Aylesbury Grammar School the choice for local families. We aim to prepare all students to shape and succeed in the modern world and we focus on providing a free education which is unparalleled in breadth and quality of opportunity.

How your funds help us

Your £250 donation will fund projects in the School that cannot be financed from the limited school budget. This year our focus is on the much-needed refurbishment of the deteriorating Maths classrooms. By investing in your Plaque you will help to enrich teaching and learning and support the refurbishment of classrooms that are no longer fit for purpose.

We remain in the bottom twenty lowest funded schools in the country. Our students are successful in spite of some of our facilities – not because of them. £250 will make a tremendous difference. Imagine if every OA participated in this initiative?
