Sharing of Expertise Afternoon – Call for Old Aylesburian Volunteers
As part of our ongoing enrichment programme for current Sixth Form students, we are delighted to invite Old Aylesburians (OAs) to return to AGS to take part in our annual Sharing of Expertise event.
This year’s event will take place on Monday 1st June, from 1.20pm to 3.30pm, and will involve informal, small-group discussions with our Year 12 students. There is absolutely no preparation required - the afternoon is all about open conversation and honest reflections.
Workshop Themes
To help students gain the most relevant insights, the afternoon will be structured around three distinct workshop themes:
Life at University - admissions, choosing courses, student life, and settling in
The World of Work - employment, career progression, workplace skills, and professional experiences
Mixed Pathways - a broad session covering apprenticeships, gap years, travel, career changes, and alternative routes
Who We’re Looking For
We are hoping to welcome 20–25 former students who left AGS within the last 10 years and have gone on to a wide variety of pathways - including university, apprenticeships, employment, travel, or combinations of these.
You will be speaking mostly in small-groups, sharing your personal journey since leaving AGS. Think of it as “advice to your former self” – what you chose to do next, what you learned along the way, and what you wish you had known when you were in Year 12.
We are also particularly keen to hear from any OAs who have experience of recruitment or selection processes within their field and would be happy to share advice or insights with students.
How to Get Involved
If you are able to help, please sign up using the link below.
Refreshments will be provided, and the afternoon also offers a great opportunity to reconnect with the Sixth Form team and fellow OAs.
Thank you for supporting the next generation of AGS students. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at alumni@ags.bucks.sch.uk.
