On Tuesday, 19 November, Old Aylesburians gathered at BrewDog Waterloo for an evening to remember. The OA Social, part of the Pitch In initiative, was a fantastic opportunity for alumni to reconnect, network across generations, and learn more about the campaign to transform Aylesbury Grammar School’s facilities.
Attendees enjoyed a wonderful evening of conversations and community spirit, hearing from key figures about the ambitious goal to raise ÂŁ1 million for a new all-weather sports pitch at the heart of AGS. Headmaster Mark Sturgeon spoke passionately about the project and its importance in enhancing opportunities for current and future students.
The evening also featured remarks from major benefactor Stephen Shipperley and campaign board chair James O’Sullivan, who emphasised the need for OAs to “pay it forward,” just as past generations of alumni have done. Paul Rogers closed the speeches with an informative talk on the benefits of giving at this time. With £50,000 in secured match funding, combined with gift aid and potential tax benefits, he explained how donations can make an even greater impact right now.
For those unable to attend, a video summarising the key messages from our speakers is available below.

All in all, the evening was a resounding success, and we’re excited to host many more events like this in the future. Stay tuned for updates—we’d love to see even more OAs at the next gathering!
Please see the gallery below for some photos from the evening, many thanks to Miss Treherne.
