Great to welcome back Jonathan Harty (Ridley '11) to AGS on Monday 2nd June as part of our Inspirational Speakers Programme.
Jonathan, a political campaigner and strategist, currently serves as Chief of Staff to Marie Tidball, Labour MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge and a member of the Education Select Committee. He has previously worked on high-profile campaigns for Keir Starmer, Anneliese Dodds, and the pressure group 38 Degrees, including efforts to keep Channel 4 in public hands and to protect free prescriptions for over-60s. His experience extends internationally too, having worked on elections in the US and campaigns in Australia.
Jonathan delivered a fascinating and well-received talk to our Year 12 students, sharing his journey from studying History at university to building a career in politics. He spoke about the current political climate, drawing thought-provoking parallels with the past 150 years, and stressed the importance of staying informed on national and global events.
The students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions which led to insightful discussion. Thank you, Jonathan, for inspiring the next generation of thinkers and leaders!
