Aylesbury Grammar School was delighted to welcome back alumnus Paul Rogers (Ridley ’78) as part of the Inspirational Speakers Programme, where he delivered an engaging talk titled “What to Believe When You Don’t.” Drawing on themes from his new book of the same name, Paul challenged Year 12 students to think deeply about the natural world, human consciousness, and the pursuit of happiness.
His talk offered a compelling framework for navigating uncertainty, encouraging students to question assumptions and reflect on what it means to form beliefs in an increasingly complex world. Students responded thoughtfully to the high-level ideas and philosophical perspectives he shared, with many taking away positive and life-affirming insights.
Paul’s visit perfectly embodied the aims of the Inspirational Speakers Programme - promoting reflection and supporting the school’s commitment to character education. Early feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the talk as both empowering and thought-provoking.
We are extremely grateful to Paul for his generosity with his time and for returning to AGS to share such an inspiring message. It was also a pleasure to welcome his proud mother to the event, making the occasion all the more special for the school community.
