On 9 July, we were delighted to welcome Rory Cameron Mowat (Hampden '99) back to AGS to speak with our Business and Economics students.
After leaving AGS in 1999, Rory studied at Loughborough University before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG. He went on to build an impressive career with Barclays and HSBC, and is now Managing Director at Rothschild & Co in London, where he advises a wide range of companies on financing matters.
Drawing on his extensive experience in corporate finance, Rory gave students a fascinating insight into his career journey, the work he undertakes at Rothschild & Co, and the skills and qualities needed to succeed in the financial services sector. His presentation highlighted the complexity and variety of advising businesses on financing decisions, while also offering practical career advice for those considering a future in business, finance or economics.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer discussion. Our students asked a series of thoughtful and insightful questions, demonstrating both their enthusiasm for the subject and the positive impact of Rory's visit.
We are extremely grateful to Rory for taking the time to return to AGS and share his expertise and experiences. Opportunities to hear directly from successful Old Aylesburians provide invaluable inspiration for our current students, and we look forward to welcoming Rory back again in the future.
