Dan Whymark

We were delighted to welcome back Old Aylesburian Dan Whymark (Lee '05) to Aylesbury Grammar School as part of our Inspirational Speakers Programme, where he delivered a thought-provoking talk entitled "Unconventional Career Paths and Working in the Sport Industry" to our Year 12 students.

Dan shared his inspiring journey since leaving AGS, offering students an honest insight into building a successful career in the sports industry. His story demonstrated that career paths are rarely linear and highlighted how embracing opportunities, remaining adaptable and following your passions can lead to exciting and rewarding experiences.

Now a highly experienced international sports professional and recognised expert in women's sport, Dan has spent the past 18 years working across the global sports industry. His impressive career has included roles with prestigious organisations such as Juventus FC and UEFA, while he also serves on a number of boards. As the founder of MIVA Sports, Dan provides strategic advice to organisations seeking to grow and develop women's sport around the world.

Throughout his presentation, Dan encouraged students to think beyond traditional career routes and emphasised the importance of developing character alongside academic achievement. He spoke passionately about the value of volunteering, giving back to the local community and selflessly supporting others, explaining how these experiences had shaped both his personal and professional development.

The feedback from our Year 12 students was overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on how inspiring and relatable they found Dan's message. His willingness to share both the challenges and successes of his career provided valuable insight into the realities of working in a competitive international industry.

We are incredibly grateful to Dan for returning to AGS to share his experiences and inspire the next generation of students. His visit was a wonderful reminder of the diverse and impactful careers our alumni go on to pursue, and of the lasting importance of resilience, service and seizing opportunities wherever they arise.
