On Friday, March 14th, Year 8 students at Aylesbury Grammar School participated in Chemistry at Work Day. We were excited to welcome 24 students from Aylesbury High School, making it an enriching experience for all. The event was well-supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry and organised by Chemistry at Work.
The students took part in a range of activities, including practical crime scene evidence gathering and learning about careful evidence packaging. A standout moment was a demonstration from Richard Fishbourne, the renowned horticultural TV producer, who inspired the students with his “Bugs and Beasties” session.
We were also thrilled to have Daniel James Andrew (Ridley '98), who came to present on Green Aviation. Daniel, who works with AIRTASK in the Aerospace R&D division, gave a fascinating insight into the future of green technologies in aviation.
The day highlighted the real-world value of chemistry, from environmental management to cutting-edge aerospace innovation, leaving the students inspired and eager to explore the world of science!
