We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to alumnus Ted Hill (Phillips '12) following his remarkable journey to the final of Britain’s Got Talent this weekend.
Ted captivated audiences throughout the competition with his distinctive brand of comedy, combining clever observations, deadpan delivery and brilliantly unconventional presentation-style humour. His originality quickly made him one of the standout acts of the 2026 series and earned him a coveted Golden Buzzer from hosts Ant and Dec, securing his place in the live shows.
His success continued during the semi-finals, where public votes saw him progress to the grand final alongside some of the strongest and most diverse talent from across the country.
In Saturday night's live final, Ted performed in front of millions of viewers and the judging panel of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI. While he did not take home the overall title, reaching the final of one of the UK's most watched television competitions is an extraordinary achievement and a testament to his creativity, determination and talent.
Ted's unique approach to comedy won admirers across the country and demonstrated the confidence to do something completely different on a national stage. His performances consistently generated laughter and praise, with Simon Cowell himself describing one of Ted's semi-final routines as the "perfect performance."
Away from Britain's Got Talent, Ted has built an impressive reputation on the comedy circuit. He is an award-winning comedian whose work has been recognised by the Brighton Seagull Awards and the British Comedy Guide, alongside his career as a science presenter.
Everyone at the school is incredibly proud of Ted's achievements. To reach the final of Britain's Got Talent is a significant accomplishment, and we look forward to following the next chapter of what promises to be an exciting career.
Congratulations, Ted – you may not have won the competition, but you have certainly won the admiration and support of your school community.
