Our Year 12 historians were lucky enough to welcome Dr Joel Burden, author of the 425th anniversary commemorative book, Aylesbury Grammar School: A History, to deliver their curriculum lecture. During his fascinating talk Dr Burden highlighted some of the key moments in the history of the School, including the debates over the exact foundation (was it 1598?), the way the school was affected by conflicts such as the English Civil War and the world wars of the Twentieth Century and the impact of global pandemics. Dr Burden then answered questions from the students covering the School's long and varied history and his own career path as a historian. We are very grateful for Dr Burden for once again coming in to deliver such an interesting and illuminating lecture.
