Aylesbury Grammar School was proud to officially celebrate the launch of its new 3G pitch last week, marking a significant milestone in the life of the School. The event was attended by over 100 guests, including members of the school community, alumni, parents, and supporters, all coming together to witness this ambitious project come to fruition.

Guests were welcomed with addresses from Mark Sturgeon, Headmaster, and James O’Sullivan (Hampden ‘91), Chair of the Pitch-In Campaign Board. They were joined by current students and Chris Duggan, Director of Sport, who all shared their perspectives on the impact of the new facility. It was particularly inspiring to see students actively engaging in the rugby and football demonstrations on the pitch, bringing to life the purpose and potential of the new facility.

The launch celebrated not only the pitch itself but also the extraordinary support that made the project possible. Over 1,000 donors contributed to the campaign, alongside generous support from trusts and grants. This collective effort of the full AGS community, including alumni, parents, staff, students, and governors, has been instrumental in completing the project an entire year ahead of schedule.

Special thanks are extended to those who contributed to the event’s success, including the senior students and prefects who assisted so ably, Miss Treherne for her organisational support, Miles Glover and Sam Dewhirst for providing outstanding music, and Joe, Jayden, Toluwani, and Dewi for speaking confidently and eloquently during the event. We also acknowledge the Facilities, Catering, and IT teams for their support behind the scenes.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate a remarkable achievement and to thank the entire AGS community for their dedication and generosity over the past 18 months. The launch of the new 3G pitch stands as a testament to what can be achieved when the AGS community comes together in support of its students.
