Aylesbury Grammar School Statement for Action

In the wake of the global protests and resurgence of the Black Lives Matter campaign, and in collaboration with our student leaders, we have written a statement of action intended for all of us and representing our commitment to positive engagement and reflection.

We have taken a considered and measured approach to the issues to discuss the positive change that can come from our School to support our BAME community. Our statement follows a series of discussions with our Old Aylesburian group and current student leaders.

We have created an Action Committee from staff, governors, student leadership (from our head boy team), key stage representatives and our Old Aylesburians. The objectives of the group are to hear the voices of our BAME community, to learn from their experiences and to facilitate any change to our practice. As we have always alluded, we can improve and be better in all that we do.

If you would like to make any suggestions or contribute to the discussions, we have set up a dedicated email address – equality@ags.bucks.sch.uk

We look forward to sharing positive change and how we will contribute to combating racism in all its forms.
