On Friday, 21st March, we had the pleasure of welcoming Old Aylesburian Tom Ward, who visited to speak to the students of the Chemistry Society about his research in theoretical chemistry. Having achieved significant success from Oxford to Imperial College London, he shared insights into his academic journey and groundbreaking work.
During his talk, Tom inspired the Chemistry Society students by explaining how he applies mathematical models, simulations, and computational techniques to understand chemical systems and predict their behavior. His discussion provided a fascinating glimpse into the role of theoretical chemistry in solving complex scientific problems.
The students were particularly intrigued by the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in theoretical chemistry.
Tom’s visit was an enlightening experience, leaving students with a deeper appreciation for the power of computational chemistry and its impact on modern scientific advancements.
