Restart a Heart Day at AGS

On Tuesday, Aylesbury Grammar School held an early Restart a Heart Day event, led by local South Central Ambulance Community Responders for South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS), including our very own Mrs. Levitt along with Mr. Levitt and Old Aylesburian Ibi (Philippe) Pir (Hampden '23), now a trainee paramedic with SCAS.

The session gave our students a vital opportunity to learn CPR and understand just how critical it can be in saving lives. Every minute without CPR reduces a person’s chance of survival by 10%, and with around 30,000 cardiac arrests occurring outside of hospitals in the UK each year, knowing what to do really can make all the difference.

Thanks to this initiative, over 150 new CPR-aware members of the public are now part of our community!

Restart a Heart Day takes place annually on and around 16 October, raising awareness of cardiac arrest and the importance of CPR. It’s led by Resuscitation Council UK, supported by the British Heart Foundation, St John Ambulance. British Red Cross, NHS England, and other partners across the UK.

There is also an app that is being promoted, for those that can't get to a training session, that allows them to learn the techniques, and see how well they are doing, called RevivR:
