A huge thank you to the 16 Old Aylesburians who returned to AGS to take part in our recent Sharing of Expertise event with our Year 12 students.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who gave up their time to come back to school and share their experiences since leaving AGS. Hearing directly from former students who have gone on to pursue a wide range of university courses, apprenticeships and careers gave our Year 12 students an invaluable insight into the many different pathways available to them.
Throughout the afternoon, our Old Aylesburians spoke openly about their journeys after AGS, reflecting on the choices they made, the challenges they encountered and the lessons they have learned along the way. They also shared practical advice on university applications, career development, transferable skills and the importance of embracing opportunities, reassuring students that career paths are rarely straightforward and that success often comes through resilience, adaptability and a willingness to keep learning.
The event gave students the opportunity to ask questions in small groups, leading to honest and engaging conversations about life after school and helping them gain a clearer understanding of higher education, apprenticeships and the world of work.
One of the greatest strengths of the Old Aylesburian community is its willingness to support those following in their footsteps. The generosity, enthusiasm and encouragement shown by our alumni made a lasting impression on our students, many of whom commented on how inspiring and reassuring it was to hear such a wide variety of personal stories and career journeys.
Events like these highlight the strength of the Old Aylesburian network and the positive impact it can have on current students as they begin making important decisions about their futures.
To all 16 Old Aylesburians who joined us, thank you once again for your continued support of AGS. Your time, honesty and encouragement are greatly appreciated, and we hope to welcome you back to future alumni events.
