We are delighted to share a fundraising initiative very close to many at Aylesbury Grammar School - please do take a moment to read Mike Corby's latest challenge to raise much needed funds for the AGS Malawi Initiative.
"On behalf of the Malawi Initiative, I am taking part in a charity cycle ride to Italy. I will be independently travelling self-supported for 9 days covering more than 1000 miles taking in 10 countries and going via the Alps
The ride is in aid of the Malawi Education Initiative, which aims to enhance the educational opportunities in the Zomba district of Malawi. Thus far the initiative has raised over £180,000 and has built educational facilities, helped improve ICT infrastructure, electrical supply, educational resources, sports equipment and has helped a number of Malawians visit UK on educational exchanges. The sponsored ride aims to raise money to build a new secondary school, which is hoped to reduce the shortage of secondary school places in the Zomba area of Malawi. The acute shortage of secondary school places is a real problem for Malawi, with only 9% of students finishing secondary school. We have the site, the permission from the education department, we just need the funds to complete the task.
More information about the Malawi Initiative or how you could help can be obtained from:
