Aylesbury Grammar School is proud to announce a fantastic set of GCSE outcomes for the 2024 Year 11 cohort, a group of students who have shown remarkable resilience and determination. Despite being affected by the COVID lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, and facing a national return to tougher grade boundaries and a reduction in top grades, our students have excelled.
In a time of heightened anxiety and uncertainty, their hard work has resulted in some truly exceptional performances. As a School, we are immensely proud of every student and excited for the next stage of their educational journey and delighted to be welcoming so many back to our Sixth Form where they will continue their studies.
The results include:
- 69.5% of all entries graded 9-7 and 99.2% graded 9-4.
- 79.7% of students achieved five or more 9-7 grades.
- 41 students received 100% 9-7 grades.
- Exceptional individual performances included two students who achieved eleven grade 9s, four students with ten grade 9s, and six students with nine grade 9s.
Headmaster Mark Sturgeon praised the students, saying,
"Following on from the outstanding A-Level results last week, these GCSE outcomes are a testament to the incredible resilience and motivation of this group of students. With GCSE examinations under so much scrutiny, they have demonstrated their depth of understanding and passion for the subjects they enjoy, and these results will open doors for their future. With such a strong foundation for further study, we congratulate our students and their families, and thank our dedicated staff who have supported them throughout the two years of GCSE study."
These results reflect not only academic excellence but also the strength of character that defines the AGS community.
