On Friday evening, we were delighted to welcome back Old Aylesburian Sam Jones (Phillips ’10), alongside current England international Elliot Daly, for a special evening celebrating their rugby journeys.
Sam and Elliot first met while playing for Wasps RFC, having also represented England together at Under 18 and Under 20 level. During the evening, they shared stories from their remarkable careers, reflecting on the dedication and resilience required to progress from schoolboy rugby to the professional game.
Elliot, a three-time British & Irish Lion, currently plays professional rugby for Saracens F.C. and England. Sam followed a similar pathway, representing England, the Barbarians and Wasps before a career-ending injury sustained while training with England.
Both speakers offered honest and inspiring insights into their experiences, speaking candidly about the highs and challenges of elite sport. The evening concluded with a lively Q&A session, where their humility and professionalism shone through.
We are hugely grateful to both Elliot and Sam for giving their time so generously.
All proceeds from the evening will support AGS Sport and the forthcoming tour to South Africa in July 2026.
