On Friday 31 January, our Question of Sport event proved to be an outstanding success, bringing together 17 teams for an evening of fun, competition, and fundraising in the Foundation Hall. The interactive quiz, inspired by the popular Question of Sport format, was a highlight of the evening, and we are thrilled with how it all came together.
The famous picture board, mystery guest, and observation rounds were all featured during the evening’s quiz. Teams, many of which bought their team names in the auction, competed fiercely across 12 rounds, with each round structured like a fixture. Winners scored 3 points, a draw earned 1, and a loss awarded 0. The evening kicked off with an interactive Picture Board, featuring a picture of OA David Millar, and continued with a variety of questions spanning topics from NFL to Fencing.
Thanks to the brilliance of our host, Iain Digby, who kept the quiz engaging and entertaining, the event ran smoothly from start to finish. His hard work and preparation ensured the evening was a success, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to him for all his efforts. A big thank you also goes to our IT team, especially Paul Carson, for ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Throughout the quiz, competition remained fierce, with a knockout cup competition running during selected rounds. Arsenal, though mid-table in the league, came out as winners in the knockout rounds. The overall result was incredibly competitive, with Wycombe Wanderers ultimately emerging victorious, beating teams like Tottenham, Barcelona, and even Real Madrid in the final round to a nail-biting finish!
During the interval, attendees enjoyed a selection of delicious cheese, biscuits, and nibbles, which provided the perfect opportunity to relax between rounds. We also want to offer our congratulations to the successful bidders during our auction, held at the event's midway point. Your generous bids contributed significantly to the success of the evening, and we’re so grateful for your continued support.
A big congratulations to the winning team, Wycombe Wanderers, for their well-deserved victory! Your knowledge and teamwork were truly impressive, and we hope you enjoyed the competitive spirit of the evening.
Most importantly, we are thrilled to announce that the event raised over £8,000 for the Pitch In campaign! This brings us another step closer to delivering a much-needed all weather, multi surface pitch for our students. We couldn’t have done it without the collective effort and generosity of everyone involved.
We also want to extend our sincere thanks to Ellie Treherne, who captured the evening’s highlights with her wonderful photos, and to all the prefects who kindly gave up their Friday evening to assist with the event. Your support was invaluable, and as always, you represented the School superbly.
We are incredibly grateful to all of our guests, volunteers, and supporters for making the Question of Sport event such a resounding success.
