Reconnecting with a Remarkable Legacy — and Continuing to Make a Difference
We’re excited to share that the AGS Malawi Exchange 2025 is now in full swing! On Saturday 12 July, 38 of our Year 11 and Year 12 students touched down safely in Malawi, ready to begin what promises to be a life-changing two weeks.
This exchange is more than a trip—it’s a powerful expression of community, resilience, and long-term commitment. Since 2007, the AGS Malawi Initiative has forged deep links with communities in the Zomba region, supporting development through:
Educational Projects – building classrooms, supplying resources, and installing satellite internet and solar power
Medical Support – delivering surgical tools, mosquito nets, and glasses
Female Empowerment – equipping young women with computers and sewing machines to help build life skills
This year, students are rolling up their sleeves again to help build a second secondary school, having each raised funds in support of local initiatives before travelling.
A Life-Changing Start
Already, this year's group has had an unforgettable start—from game drives, fishing trips, and giraffe sightings, to visiting Mkanda Primary and Malosa Secondary, where they’ve delivered vital supplies and forged connections with students and staff.
They’ve also been hard at work at a local tea plantation and kicked off the building work—though we hear the search for shovels was part of the adventure too!

🌅 Chasing the Sun — One Pedal Stroke at a Time
The spirit of this initiative stretches far beyond Malawi. On Saturday 21 June, Mr Corby took on the Chase the Sun cycling challenge—riding coast to coast from sunrise in Kent to sunset in Weston-super-Mare to raise vital funds for the Malawi Initiative.
Despite a delayed start, Mr Corby crossed the finish line after more than 12 hours in the saddle—tackling steep hills, scorching heat, and endless traffic lights—arriving just after 18:30, a full 3 hours before sunset. An outstanding achievement for an incredible cause!
💛 Help Us Keep the Momentum Going
For those who took part in past Malawi trips, you’ll know just how deeply this experience stays with you. From building classrooms and friendships to soaking in Malosa’s sunsets, the memories live on. Now, you can help the current generation of AGS students carry that legacy forward.
🙏 It’s not too late to donate to Mr Corby’s fundraising and support this year’s AGS Malawi Initiative:
